这份2023年的榜单形式与往年有些许不同，并不是一份简单的列表，而是把旅游目的地分为五类-美食榜、学习榜、漫游榜、放松榜和人际联系榜。

《孤独星球》杂志执行主编和内容部高级副总裁尼蒂娅·钱伯斯解释道，“今年我们真的很想尝试一些新的东西，反映我们观察到的旅游者们寻找旅行的方式，他们既看重旅游目的地，也关注旅游体验。”

在此基础上，《孤独星球》杂志总部的编辑们开始进一步甄选，寻根究源，并于11月份公布了最终入选名单。
