An Agent (a component of the common framework) present on every managed system performs property collection (on the client), policy collection (from the server) and policy enforcement (at the client). The agent executes scheduled tasks, and reports any changes made to the client machine or virus incidents back to the server. The Repository, (present both on the ePO server and optionally distributed within the network of managed machines) provides a location from which managed systems can obtain products and updates. The Notification Service provides the framework on which to define rules, (based on product events), that can be used to provide real-time alerting using a variety of methods.
