In consequence, major cities promote the process of internationalization constantly, and lots of public signs have been translated into English. Proper translations of public signs is very important for foreigners, because foreigners can get necessary information form the translations and the quality of the translations of public signs often reflect the city’ internationalization level. In order to realize the functions of public signs, translators should give priority to cultural differences between source language and target language. Moreover, in the translation of public signs, translators could borrow some fixed expressions from the target language and adopt translation strategies that conform to the target language readers’ mode of thinking to achieve the goals. But, regrettably, there are various kinds of problems in the current translations of public signs. Therefore, more attention is supposed to be paid to the research of translations
