Abstract
ThisreportaimstoanalyzetheEnglishpronunciationerrorsandtheinfluencingfactorsamongthefreshmenofHainanUniversity.Themethodologyusedinthisreportincludesasurveywithaquestionnaireandananalysisofthedatacollected.Theresultsshowthatthemostcommonpronunciationerrorsareinwordstress,vowelsounds,andsyllablestructure.ThemajorinfluencingfactorsaretheEnglishteachingmethodology,themothertongueinterference,andthelackofsufficientEnglishlanguageexposure.Basedonthefindings,somesuggestionsareprovidedtoimproveEnglishpronunciationamonguniversitystudents,includingimprovingtheEnglishteachingmethodology,providingmoreEnglishlanguageexposure,andraisingawarenessoftheimportanceofEnglishpronunciation.
Introduction
EnglishpronunciationisanessentialaspectofEnglishlanguagelearningandcommunication.Manystudieshaveshownthatpronunciationerrorscanhaveanegativeimpactoncommunicationandcanhinderthedevelopmentoflanguageproficiency(KormosDénes,2004;LiZhang,2021;MunroDerwing,2006).Therefore,itiscrucialtoanalyzeEnglishpronunciationerrorsandtheirinfluencingfactorsamonguniversitystudentstoimprovetheirEnglishcommunicationskills.
ThisreportfocusesontheEnglishpronunciationerrorsandtheinfluencingfactorsamongthefreshmenofHainanUniversity.Thepurposeofthisreportistoidentifythemostcommonpronunciationerrorsandexplorethefactorsthatcontributetotheseerrors.ThefindingsofthisreportcanprovideinsightsintohowtoimproveEnglishpronunciationamonguniversitystudents.
Methodology
Thedataforthisreportwerecollectedthroughasurveywithaquestionnaire.ThequestionnairewasdesignedtocollectinformationabouttheEnglishpronunciationerrorsandtheinfluencingfactorsamongthefreshmenofHainanUniversity.Atotalof120studentsparticipatedinthesurvey,
