Description:
NetBackup maintains an internal database of backup images and media information, called catalogs. The Image record in the Image catalog and the Media catalog in the Media catalog contain an expiration date. The expiration date is the date and time that NetBackup deletes the backup record and the media ID record from the corresponding catalog.
The Bpexpdate command allows you to change the expiration date and time of the backup in the NetBackup Image catalog. It is also used to change the expiration date of the removable medium in the NetBackup Media catalog. If the date is set to 0, the Bpexpdate immediately expires the backup or the medium. When a medium ID is deleted from the NetBackup Media catalog, it is also unallocated in the Media Manager volume database, ignoring the priority state of the Media (freezing, hanging, and so on).
Changing the expiration date can change the expiration date of the media ID based on the media ID or based on an independent backup ID, or the expiration date of the full backup on the media. Bpexpdate also provides options in medium no longer contain valid backup, the cancellation of its allocation, and according to the configuration or provide to recalculate the retention period of expiration da
