PAGE  PAGE 30 Movie Title Translations from the Perspective of Peter Newmark’s Communicative Translation Principles 从纽马克交际翻译理论解读电影片名翻译 摘要 如今，电影现在已经成为一个重要的文化媒介，随着国际间文化交流的发展，越来越多的人开始关注电影。 电影片名的翻译只是电影翻译的一小部分，但是它起到非常重要的作用。众所周知，一直以来如何翻译好电影片名已经成为翻译界热烈讨论的话题。西方电影片名的翻译与华语电影片名翻译有着很大的不同，在翻译的过程中，由于译者的想法，经验以及知识的不同，翻译出来的译名也会有所不同。电影是文化交流非常重要的一部分，所以，各国的文化正在成为电影中所要表达的主要内容。 彼得·纽马克的交际翻译理论可以很好地解决电影片名翻译的现状。本文拟从纽马克教授的交际翻译理论入手，指出电影片名翻译的重要性，讨论电影片名的交际翻译特性，并从交际翻译理论方面对中英文电影片名进行举例分析。 关键词：电影片名；交际翻译；原则 Abstract With the development of the international culture exchange, more and more people pay close attention to the movies, which have become an important culture media. The movie title translation is a small part in the movie translation, but plays a very important role. As is known to all, how to translate the film titles has become a controversial topic in the field of translation for a long time; the translation of western film titles is quite different from the translation of Chinese ones. In the process of translation, different translators will have different translations of the same film title, because all of them have their own ideas, experience and knowledge. The film plays a very important part of cultural exchanges, therefore, the culture of the countries is becoming a major content to present in the films. Peter Newmark’s communicative translation theory can sufficiently account for the current situation in movie title translation. This paper plans to commence from Professor Peter Newmark’s communicative translation and point the importance of movie title translation, then discusses the communicative translation characters of movie title translation and analyses the examples of mutual translation between Chinese and English movie titles on communicative translation principles.
