Abstract:TraditionalChineseMedicine(TCM)hasbeengloballyrecognizedforitsuniquediagnosisandtreatmentmethods,aswellasitsholisticapproachtohealthpreservation.However,theaccuratetranslationofTCMterminologieshasbecomeachallengeforcross-culturalcommunicationinTCMpracticeandresearch.ThisstudyaimstoinvestigatetheEnglishtranslationsofTCMterminologiesandexplorethepotentialproblemsininterculturalcommunicationfromalinguisticandculturalperspective.Byanalyzingtheexistingtranslationstrategiesandprinciples,aswellastheculturalconnotationsofTCM,thisstudyintendstoprovidepracticalsuggestionsforpromotingtheproperutilizationofTCMknowledgeinglobalhealthcarecontext.

Introduction

TraditionalChineseMedicine(TCM)hasalonghistoryofdevelopmentinChinaandhasbeenincreasinglyrecognizedandappliedinglobalhealthcarepractice.However,thetranslationofTCMterminologiesremainsastumblingblockincross-culturalcommunicationbetweenTCMpractitionersandpatients,aswellasbetweenTCMresearchersandtheirinternationalcounterparts.ThelackofaccurateandstandardizedTCMterminologytranslationnotonlyaffectsthecommunicationeffectivenessbutalsobringspotentialmisunderstandingsandmisapplicationinTCMpracticeandresearch.Therefore,understandingthechallengesandexploringthestrategiesofTCMterminologytranslationfromaninterculturalcommunicationperspectiveisessentialforpromotingthepropercommunicationandapplicationofTCMknowledge.
