Without their kind-hearted help, the content of the thesis will never be accomplished. First, I would like give the most sincere thanks to Professor my supervisor, for his critical comments and many invaluable suggestion instructed me to complete my thesis. Special thanks to professor who instructed me the structure of the thesis and made valuable comments on the design of the questionnaire. In addition, I also want to thank my classmates for their consistent assistance with my thesis. They gave me a great help to collect and input data. Abstract Language is a tool for communication between people. In this thesis which is based on Gardner’s Socio-Educational Model from the perspective of motivation. The author was adopted questionaire-investigation to collect date, give several questions to 30 students in Nong Shishi middle school in class two grade eight. The results show that although Today’s China educational government paid more attention on English teaching, especially in oral English teaching. But, it still have many problems in English teaching, Most middle school students are in “Dumb English” state, it is bad for the development of student’s future study. The final aim of learning English is communicate, but this kind of phenomenon (Dumb English) will direct affect final aims of study English. This thesis will based on motivation theory which is studied by researchers aboard and in China, by adopting scientific theory to help teachers on their oral English teaching, and help students on their oral English study.
