soondeclinedandPortugalandSpainbecamethedominantpowers.Intheseventeenthcentury,citieslike
London,Paris,andAmsterdambecamethecentersofcommercialactivity.Thesechangeswerepartofthe
CommercialRevolutionthatinfluencedEurope.
TheAgriculturalandIndustrialrevolutions,liketheCommercialRevolution,alsoimpactedEuropeansociety.
Thediscoveryofnewmachineryandadvancementsinfarminghadfarreachingeffects.Theuseofnewcrops
andtechniques,andtheintroductionofbettermethodsofsoilrotationenabledEuropetogrowmorefood.This
helpedtoraisethestandardofliving.TheAgriculturalRevolutionprovidedthefoodfortheexpandingcity
populationsanddirectlyledtoapopulationexplosioninEurope.TheIndustrialRevolution,whichstartedin
GreatBritain,hadagreatereffectonsocietythantheFrenchRevolution.Thetransformationfromanagrarian
