Outline of Import Export Procedures
1. IMPORT PROCEDURES
1) Import license Similar to export, many countries have import controls by an import licence system. In order to import, an importer must obtain an import licence from the government. Importers should find out whether a licence is needed and can be obtained before he starts the negotiation. This is particularly important when the negotiation itself would involve considerable cost.──────────procedure:程序import license:进口许可证
2) Sales contract A transaction starts from negotiating the terms of this document that will determine the rights and obligations of both the importer and the exporter. Once this agreement is signed, all the terms should be strictly observed. Therefore, it is important that all the terms should be expressly agreed upon by the importer and the exporter. Generally speaking, a sales contract must be made in written form. A sales contract normally consists of three parts. The beginning part has contract number, time and place of the contract, names, addresses and telephone/telex/fax numbers of the importer and the exporter and preface. The body part of the contract is the main part that provides the terms and conditions of the transaction and the rights and obligations of the importer and the exporter. 3) L/C If L/C will be used for payment, the importer should open the L/C in time in favor of the exporter who would usually arrange production or shipment after receiving this important document. The L/C application should be made to fit the sales contract terms. Otherwise, the exporter will ask the importer to amend the L/C. That will cause extra work and cost and may delay the shipment.
