Unit 2 E-mail Learning Objectives By the end of this unit you should be able to have a good command of the form and structure of a questionnaire; use Writing Techniques in this unit comfortably in your Business English Writing; practise writing questionnaires by using words in the miniword lists; acquire the ability to write a questionnaire with the help of dictionaries and the Internet. Lead-in In everyday life, you are sure to see lots of questionnaires in Chinese or in English. Someone may send you a piece of paper and ask you to fill in the paper with your choices when you are walking on the street. This kind of paper is called questionnaire. When it comes to business, you must learn to write a questionnaire when your company wants some information or feedback(反馈)on your products in the market. To promote or expand their business, nearly all companies draw up questionnaires to ask their staff or customers for comments or opinions on their products or business plans. The information gathered from questionnaires will be transformed into statistical(统计的)information, graphs and charts. And the results will be the basis for reports or decisionmakings for business initiatives after careful analyses. Task One: Work in pairs and have a discussion to find out some useful words and phrases for writing a questionnaire. Just try your best and then exchange your findings with other pairs in your class. Task Two: After finishing Task one, you are to do a group work—find out how many different parts a questionnaire should include and what they are. Then check your findings with your teacher. Presentation Questionnaire is a form that consists of a series of questions on a topic or a group of topics designed to be answered by a number of people.
