Live To Ride I.Skimming 1.Can you describe today’s rides? What are they like? 2. What is thrill rides? Yes. They are wilder and scarier than ever. Thrill rides let you enjoy a good scream as you experience something exciting; they use technology and special effects to give you a thrill. II. Read it again and answer the following questions. 1. What can you do in today’s rides? 2. What can feel in thrill rides. You can go through twists, loops and drops. Some roller coasters even let you race against your friends. You can ride through darkness. You can feel what it is like to fall through the air. You can feel what it is like to live in space, walk on the ocean floor or ski with polar bears at the North Pole. III. Read the text once again an d answer the following questions. How many parts can the text be divided into? What is the main idea of each part? What is the purpose of the writer? Look at the title and the pictures, guess what the text is about? II.Read the text. 1. What’s the main idea of the passage? 2. How many parks are mentioned in the text? And what are they? Theme parks in China Five.Window of the World; Splendid China: Underwater World Park; Safari Park: Banpo Park. III. Read the text again and answer. How are Window of the World and Splendid China similar? What about the Underwater World Park and the Safari Park? Why are the animals in Safari Park not kept in cages? They show small copies of the real world. They bring visitors close to nature. Visitors can see the animals in their natural environment. Because it offers an opportunity to see the animals living in nature freely.
