Unit 6 An old man tried to move the mountains. Section A (3a-3c) 辽宁工程技术大学附属中学张佳瑜 一、教学目标 1) Knowledge aims: Ss learn the key words and phrases: the Monkey King, magic stick, hide, tail, object, turn…into, excite, Western, unless, as soon as, so…that…, be able to. 2)Ability aims: Improve Ss reading ability by task design. 3)Emotion aims: Ss should learn the spirit from the Monkey King. He keeps fighting to help the weak and never gives up. 二、学情分析 Students in Grade Eight have the basics of the listening and speaking. We are trying to practice Ss’ reading skills. This is a reading lesson about the Monkey King. Ss are interested in the story and pay more attention to learning it. So Ss can learn the passage easily by task design. 三、学习重点、难点: Teaching key points: Know key words , important phases and expressions well. Learn and master reading skills by reading practice. Teaching difficult points: How to retell the story in English. How to improve Ss’ reading skills. 四、教学过程 Step 1 Lead-in. Greetings. Show a book of Journey to the West and an electric toy of Sun Wukong to lead in the new lesson. T: What is the name of the book? S: Journey to the West. T: Who is the main character in the traditional book? S: Sun Wukong / The Monkey King. 设计意图:用一本西游记的名著导入这本书里主要人物孙悟空, 这个电动孙悟空会迅速吸引孩子们的眼球,课堂气氛顿时能活跃起来。为学习新课奠定了基础。 Step 2 Learn the new words. T: Look at the electric toy of Sun Wukong. Who can describe the Monkey King? S: … Show a picture of the Monkey King on the white board. Then learn the following words by describing the Monkey King. the Monkey King, magic stick, hide, tail, turn…inteox,cite. 设计意图:放一张美猴王的图片在白板上,通过描述美猴王来依次在图片周围呈现新单词,清晰明了。 Step 3 Fast reading. Read the passage and match the main ideas with paragraphs. Para1 A. Why has the Monkey King excited so many children ? Para2 B. Which book is talked about? Para3 C.
