The paper includes four parts. The introduction part deals with some related information of the Beat Generation. It also introduces the purpose as well as the method of this research. The first chapter gives a brief introduction of the book On the Road and the author Jack Kerouac. The second chapter describes the factors that trigger the Beat Movement. The third chapter mainly tells the deeds of the beats from the book. The last chapter, Chapter Four concerns the relationship between hippies, jazz and the beats. The conclusion part restates the thesis.
