An Application of Protection Motivation Theory to Injection Motivation of Hepatitis B Vaccination among Rural Residents older than 15 in china
1 HB in the world, HB in China, HB Vaccination and HB Vaccination in China(Immunization policy and adults)(The importance of individuals’ cognition on HB and HB Vaccination to HB vaccnation behavior)
Hepatitis B (HB) is the most serious infective disease in virus hepatitis, and it ranks 10th place of the causes of global death. Approximately 30% of the world’s populations, that is to say, about 2 billion people, have serological evidence of infection with hepatitis B virus (HBV). It is estimated that 350 million of them have chronic HBV infection, about a million of who die each year from chronic liver disease, including cirrhosis and liver cancer, which is more than 8 times of the AIDS infected.
Currently, China is the only country with high prevalence of HBV in Asia. There are 130 million populations who have been infected by HBV in China, that is to say, there is one HB patient in 10 people. In the view of HB morbidity, it is more serious in rural area than that in urban area; moreover, most of people in China live in the rural area, which accounts for more than 70 percent of the whole population. Therefore, most of the diagnosed and incubative HB patients are in the rural area.
HBV is spread by either skin puncture or mucous membrane contact with infected blood or other body fluids. At present, there is no effective treatment for HB. It is painful and incurable for the HB and its complications patients’, furthermore, because of the disease; the patients would lose their job, which leads to a huge economic burden for the family and society. It costs 50 billion each year for China to the treatment of HB. Thanks
