GO FOR IT 7A. Unit 6 Do you like bananas? Period 1. Section A. 1a – 2c Teaching objectives: By the end of the session, students will be better able to talk about likes and dislikes. This will be achieved by: a). students get to know the new words of food. b). students learn to discuss what they like and dislike. c). students get the information about their classmates’ favorite food or other things. Learning and teaching focus: General questions: Do you like…? Do they like…? Does he / she like…? Yes, …. / No, …. Other key sentences: I like…. / I don’t like…. They like …. / They don’t like…. He / She likes….. He / She doesn’t like….. Grammar: Countable Nouns and Uncountable Nouns. Teaching difficulties: (Anticipated difficulties) The different using between “like” and “likes” might obstruct students. They might get confused in when to use “like” and when to use “likes”. And also it’s difficult to tell “don’t like” and “doesn’t like”. Another teaching difficulty is the differences between countable nouns and uncountable nouns. Teaching aids: PPT, a survey form that students can use to discuss what their deskmates like and dislike. Some real fruit if it’s necessary or easy to get ready. Learning and teaching arrangement: Stages / timing Students’ Teacher’s Warming-up (3 mins) 1. Greeting. 2. Free talking: Discuss what we should do for the earthquake in Sichuan and what people in Wenchuan need now. 3. Say the words that they’ve learned before, including food, drinks and fruits. 1. Greeting. Free talking. 2. Show some pictures of earthquake in Sichuan. Lead-in food is important for people, and what students like to eat. Presentation (15 mins) 4. learn the new words with the things in the picture. 5. One by one, students say the words of food as possible as they can. 6. Ask the teacher: Do you like…? 7.
