Taiwan is a cornucopia When I flew to Taiwan for the first time, my mood was complicated. I remember a poem written by Yu Guangzhong, a poet of Taiwan, entitled homesickness: when I was a child, homesickness was a small stamp. I am at the head, mother is over there. After growing up, homesickness was a narrow ticket. Im at the end, the bride is over there. Later, ah, homesickness was a low grave. I was outside, and my mother was in it. And now, nostalgia is a shallow strait. Im at this end, the mainland is over there. After taking off from SanFrancico Airport, the plane sat down beside me, a professor of politics and history from Taiwan who enthusiastically introduced me to the history of Taiwan: Taiwan has been a part of Chinese territory since ancient times. Chinas ancient island called Taiwan Yi Han and Jin, northern and Southern Dynasties called Yizhou, early in the year 230, King Sun Quan had sent General Hayden on the island in the crossing rate. Sui and Tang Dynasties called Taiwan flow. In the Southern Song Dynasty, Penghu was a province of Fujian. In 1335, the Yuan Dynasty established a patrol bureau in Penghu, which ruled the civil administration of Penghu and Taiwan. It was affiliated to Tongan County, Quanzhou, Fujian province (now Xiamen). Since then, China has set up special government institutions in Taiwan. Holland invaded Penghu two times in 1602 and 1622, then occupied the Spanish stronghold in northern Taiwan, and changed Taiwan into a Holland colony. At the end of the Ming Dynasty, Zheng Chenggong, a national hero, expelled the Holland invaders and recovered the island of Taiwan. In 1683, the government of the Qing Dynasty unified Taiwan, built Taiwan province.
