Theseterraces(build)bythelocalZhuangandYaopeople,towhomGuangxiishome.StartingintheYuanDynasty,workontheterracestookhundredsofyears,untilitscompletionintheearlyQingDynasty.Reaching(目之所及)theseterracescovertallmountains,oftenfrom(从顶部到最顶端).

Sowhydidthesepeople(竭尽所能做某事)turntheentiremountainsintoterraces?Firstly,therearefewlarge,flatareasoflandintheregion.(build)theterracesthereforemeantthattheycouldincreasetheareasinwhichtheycouldgrowrice.Secondly,althoughtheregionhas(大量的)rain,themountainsaresteepandthesoilisshallow.Theflatterraces(汲取雨水)and(防止土壤被冲刷掉).
