本课程为有一定的双语基础、想要进一步提升自己的双语应用和转换能力的学习者量身打造。课程旨在培养学生从事口译所需的各种基本素质，具体包括：
掌握基本口译原则，学习口译技能，培养口译所需的语言、认知能力，并能在翻译实践灵活运用；了解新型行业需求，通过会议口译文本的学习和优秀译例赏析、学习理解中国形象、中国文化等输出的重要性。
本课程以实践为中心，学习口译相关理论知识，选取时鲜、实用的双语语料，训练口译的核心技能；包括译前准备、信息搜索、主旨提取、工作记忆训练、口译笔记，逻辑显化等。
通过课程的学习帮助学生了解提高自己语言理解和表达能力的方法，学习如何去听一段发言、记住信息并有效地用另一种语言传递信息，增强学生对英汉语言文化的知识底蕴，并学会在不同群体与文化间进行沟通，打开通往职业口译生涯的大门。

FoundationCourseofInterpretingisforstudentswiththeambitionofimprovingtheirabilityoflanguageusesandswitching.Thecourseistoequipstudentswiththeleaningoutcomesnecessarytomeetthebasicneedsoftheinterpretationprofession.Studentswillbeguidedthroughtheprinciples,strategiesandabilitiesinvolvedininterpretingpracticesoastoapplyittotheupdatedindustryrequirement.
Thecourseemphasisisonpracticaltrainingininterpreting,andteachingthetheoreticalknowledgeofinterpretingandcultivatinginterpretingskillswithupdatedandpracticalmaterials.Thatincludespre-interpretingpreparation,seekingofinformation,gistextraction,workingmemory,note-takingandlogicexplicitation,etc.
Studentsareexpectedtoenhancetheabilityoflanguagecomprehensionandexpression,bylearninghowtolisteningandmemorizetheinformationandconveythemessagethroughanotherlanguage.TheyarealsoexpectedtohaveanimprovedunderstandingoftheChineseandEnglishlanguagesandcultures,andinterpersonalskills.
