Specialized English for Intelligent Control School of Auomation, BISTU Part 2 Unit 7-AConventional and Intelligent Control The term “conventional (or traditional) Control” is used here to refer to the theories and methods that were developed in the past decades to control dynamical systems,the behavior of which is primarily described by differential and difference equations. Note that this mathematical framework may not be general enough in certain cases.In fact, it is well known that there are control problems that cannot be adequately described in a differential/difference equations framework.Example include discrete event manufacturing and communication systems,the study of which has led to the use of automata and queuing theories in the control of systems. “传统控制”这个术语是指在过去的几十年里发展起来的用于控制以微分和差分方程表述的动态系统的理论和方法。我们注意到在解决某些问题时仅仅使用这种数学结构表述是不充分的。事实上,众所周知,使用微分和差分方程结构是无法充分描述一些控制问题的。例如在研究包括离散事件的制造与通信系统时,自治与排队论就被引入到系统的控制中。 In the minds of many people, particularly outside the control area, the term “intelligent control ” has come to mean some form of control using fuzzy and /or neural network methodologies. This perception has been reinforced by a number of articles and interviews mainly in the nonscientific literature. However intelligent control does not restrict itself only to those methodologies. In fact, according to some definitions of intelligent control not all neural/fuzzy controllers would be considered intelligent. 特别是在控制领域外的大多数人的头脑中,“智能控制”这个术语意味着控制采用诸如模糊或者神经网络等方法。许多非科研性的文章和介绍使这个观念愈加根深蒂固。然而智能控制并非局限于使用那些方法。事实上,根据智能控制的一些定义并非使用了神经或模糊控制器就可以被认为是智能的。 The fact is that there are problems of control which can not be formulated and studied in the conventional differential/difference equation mathematical framework.To address these problems in a systematic way,a number of methods have been developed that are collectively known as intelligent control methodologies. 现在存在一些控制问题无法使用传统的微分和差分方程形式来公式化和研究。为了能够用一种系统的方法来处理这些问题,一些被大家称之为智能控制的方法就被提出来了。
