Affiliated Hospital for Gynaecology and Obstetrics of Medical College of Zhejiang University, Hangzhou 310006, China 【Abstract 】 Oocyte maturation is a complex physiological procedure. During oogenesis, oocyte nucleus exhibits a unique chromatin configuration, which changes from non-surrounded nucleolus (NSN) to surrounded nucleolus (SN) accompanied with the alteration of gene transcriptional activity. Epigenetic modification plays an important role in this large scale chromatin modification and gene transcriptional regulation, which is mainly regulated by the balance of histone acetylation/deacetylation. Some signals provided by accumulating of granulosa cells and the cytoplasm of the oocyte, may play a role in this process.
