In 2001, the Ministry of Education issued the Chinese New Curriculum Standards (referred to as the New Standard), aiming to reflect the thinking of people-centered, and promote the healthy personality development of the students. Individual teaching of Chinese language is the cutting point and the effective way to practice the Chinese curriculum reform. This paper, above all, deals with the characteristics and its necessity of individual Chinese language teaching. Then, it talks about the objectives, problems, and the strategies of individual reading teaching, and individual composition teaching.
