Gives the most flexible solution Right from Chassis, Server and IO. 5 types of fabric: Ethernet – Cisco/BNT FC – Brocade, Qlogic, Cisco, Emulex Infiniband – Voltaire, Mellanox SAS – LSI iSCSI * In order to provide flexibility to our clients to get different combination of FC, Ethernet and SAS ports, we use Combination Form factor adapetrs.: CFFh, CFFv, Introducing CIOv with HS22. Main Difference between CFFv and CIOv: PCI Express to PCIe Gen 2. As mentioned on the hardware overview chart, one of the new features of the I/O subsystem on the HS22 is the CIOv daughter card, which replaces the current CFFv form factor for standard-speed, or legacy expansion options We have 1Gb Ethernet/ 4Gb FC Today and 8Gb cards (coming on May 26th) for HS22. First to enable end to end 8Gb on all BladeCenter Chassis. For high-speed I/O expansion, including 10GbE or Infiniband, or for combination I/O cards, like the 1GbE / 8Gb Fibre Channel card, the HS22 supports currently shipping CFFh expansion cards – these are the same high-speed cards used on the HS21 and HS21 XM today Through a combination of CIOv and CFFh I/O cards, along with the dual-port GbE chip integrated on the planar, customers can get up to 8 ports of total I/O to each blade No matter the customer’s I/O requirements, the HS22 is flexible and robust to meet almost any need from simple networking to high-speed storage for virtualizaiton and database applications * * * * IBM Systems Director Upward Integration Modules (UIMs) not only protects your investment in existing management software, they also add value to these products by surfacing more detailed hardware information and tools.
