一、过去完成时（ThePastPerfectTense）的概念及构成

1．概念：它表示动作发生的时间是“过去的过去”。包括：

a．过去完成时表示在过去某一时间或动作之前已经发生或完成了的动作；

b．过去完成时还可以表示，从过去的某一时间开始到过去的另一时间的动作或

状态。

2．过去完成时由“助动词had+过去分词”构成。其中助动词had适用于所有人称

和数。例如：

肯定句：主语+had+过去分词+其它

Hehadwritten100booksbytheendoflastyear.

否定句：主语+hadnot+过去分词+其它

Hehadnotwritten100booksbytheendoflastyear.

一般疑问句：Had+主语+过去分词+其它？

Hadhewritten100booksbytheendoflastyear?

④一般疑问的回答：肯定回答：Yes,主语+had.

否定回答：No,主语+hadn’t(hadnot)

如：例句的肯定回答：Yes,hehad.

否定回答：No,hadn’t.

特殊疑问词或词组+一般疑问句（Had+主语+过去分词）?例如：

二、过去完成时的用法

a．过去完成时表示在过去某一时间或动作之前已经发生或完成了的动

作。它表示动作发生的时间是“过去的过去”。

1．用by,bythen,bytheendof,bythetime(of)等构成的短语。

?Ihadfinishedreadingthenovelbynineoclocklastnight.

?BythenIhadlearnedEnglishfor3years.

?HowmanyEnglishfilmshadyouseenbytheendoflastterm?

?Peterhadcollectedmorethan300Chinesestampsbythetimehewasten.

2．通过上下文表示来判断动作发生的先后顺序。

?Theboyinsistedthathehadneverseenthebird.

?Hewasproudofwhathehaddonefortheold.

?WiththeirhelpIrealizedthatIhadbeenwrong.

3．在包含when,before,after,until,nowthat等连词的状语从句中，如果主句谓语和

从句谓语在不同时间发生，先发生的动作用过去完成时。

?Whenhehadfinishedhiswork,helefthisoffice.（从句动作在前）

?AfterIhaddonemyhomework,Iwenttobed.（从句动作在前）

b．过去完成时还可以表示，从过去的某一时间开始到过去的另一时间的动作或状

态。往往和由for或since引导的、表示（过去的）一段时间的短语或从句连用。

?Hehadworkedinthiscompanyforfiveyearsbeforehemovedhere.

?WehadnotseeneachothersinceIleftBeijing.

※当一个由before,after,assoonas等连词引导的从句所表示的动作与主句的动作前

后紧接时，由于连词本身已经说明两个动作发生的先后关系，这两个动
