Introduction:

Acnevulgarisisacommonskinconditionaffectingmillionsofpeopleworldwide,especiallyteenagersandyoungadults.Theconventionaltreatmentmethodsincludetopicalandoralmedications,buttheyoftenhavesideeffectsandarenotalwayseffective.IntensePulsedLight(IPL)therapyisanon-invasiveandsafealternativetoconventionaltreatmentsthathasgainedpopularityinrecentyears.IPLtherapydeliversshortpulsesofbroadbandlightthatpenetratetheskinandtargetthebacteriacausingacne.However,thereislimitedresearchontheefficacyofIPLtherapyintreatingacnevulgarisinthespecificwavelengthrangeof420nm~950nm.Therefore,thisstudyaimstoevaluatethetherapeuticefficacyofIPLtherapyinthetreatmentofacnevulgaris.

Methods:

Thisstudywillbearandomizedcontrolledtrialof60patientswithacnevulgaris.Thepatientswillberandomlyassignedintotwogroups;theexperimentalgroup(n=30)willreceive6sessionsofIPLtherapyat4-weekintervals,whilethecontrolgroup(n=30)willreceiveaplacebotreatmentwithnolightexposure.TheIPLdeviceusedinthisstudywillemitlightinthewavelengthrangeof420nmto950nmwithapulsedurationof20msandafluenceof20J/cm^2.TheprimaryoutcomemeasurewillbethechangeintheacnelesioncountusingtheGlobalAcneGradingSystem(GAGS)scoreattheendofthetreatmentand6weekspost-treatment.ThesecondaryoutcomemeasurewillbetheimprovementintheQualityofLife(QOL)ofpatientsmeasuredusingtheDermatologyLifeQualityIndex(DLQI)questionnaire.

Results:

Theresultsofthisstudywillbeevaluatedusingstatisticalanalysis.Descriptivestatisticswillbeusedtosummarizethedemographicdataofthestudypopulation,whileIndependentStudentt-testandpairedt-testwi
