Can you see the four students in front of the class? They are giving a new lesson to the others. They are really hardworking, aren’t they? And I think it’s very brave of them to stand in front of the others and give a new lesson. Can you see the tallest girl? Her name is Liu Hanya. She used to be the monitor in my class. Now she has graduated and is studying in a high school. When she was my monitor, she could organize class meetings very well. When her classmates met up with some problems, she was always willing to help them. So, what do you think of her? Ss: Very organized, helpful, clever and brave. T: What personal qualities do you think are the most important to be a monitor? Ss: (helpful, organized, brave …) II. Listening and practicing: Listening: The Students’ Union needs a new chair-person. Millie and her classmates are talking about the most suitable person to be a new chairperson of the Students’ Union. Let’s listen to the tape and answer the following questions: Who does Millie think would be a good chairperson? Why does she think so? Please read after the tape and try to remember the dialogue.
