The talking eggs Once there was a bad woman who had two daughters. Their names were Rose and Rebecca. Rose was bad, but Rebecca was good. The mother liked Rose better, because she understood her.she made Rebecca do all the work while Rose played all day. One day the mother sent Rebecca to the well to get some water. She was taking water from the well when an old woman came to her. “Please give me some water,” the old woman said, “ I am thirsty.” “OK, ma’am.” Rebecca said, “ here is some water.” “ Thank you, my child.” The old woman said, “now I am not thirsty any longer. You are a good girl.” A few days later the mother was angry about something. She hit Rebecca with the broom and said, “ Go away. I don’t want to see you any more.” Rebecca was afraid of her mother. And she ran into the woods. She cried because she didn’t know where to go. Then she met the same old woman that she had seen at the well. “ My child, why have you been crying?” the old woman asked. “ Oh, auntie.” Rebecca said, “ mama beat me and told me not to come home anymore. But I don’t know where to go.” “ come with me, my child. I’ll give you supper and a bed to sleep in. but you have to promise not to laugh at anything.”The old woman took Rebecca’s hand, and they began to walk through the woods. After a time Rebecca saw two arms. The arms were fighting. She thought it was strange and funny, but she said nothing, and she did not laugh. Later she saw two legs fighting and finally she saw two heads fighting.“will you still go with me?”asked the old woman. “yes ,” said Rebecca.At last they arrived at the old woman’s home. They ate their supper and went to bed. The next morning the old woman said, “ You must go home now, but because you are a good girl. I want to give you a gift. Go to the chicken house and take some eggs. Take the ones that say, ‘Take me!’ you must not take the ones that say’ Don’t take me!’ As you walk home, throw the eggs behind your back to break them.”Rebecca walked home,
