150 feet, which is the existing condition
11. EXPLAIN WHY STANDARD CANNOT BE MET (FAA ORDER 5300.1E):
Modifying existing runways to meet Design Group VI standards would require demolition of portions of shoulder
and erosion pavement and reconstruction of full depth pavement sections. In addition, runway edge lighting
and other lighting systems would need to be relocated or expanded. This reconstruction would require extended
periods of runway closure and significantly increase runway rehabilitation project costs. Such closures would
increase delays significantly at JFK and nationwide, resulting in millions of dollars of delay costs to the airlines
that operate out of JFK.
