End Products: team presentation, research report, essay translation, etc. Evaluation The score is based on the following parts: Attendance 10% Group presentation 30% Note-taking 10% Individual performance in class 10% Assignments 20% Final test 20% Objectives To prepare students to be electric engineering professionals with practical knowledge in the following 5 fields: Power Grid and Development Electric power plant and system Development of Power Supply and Utility Technology Renewable Recourses and Electricity Generation Development of Power System in the World Task Package 1: Power Grid and Development Each group gives a PPT presentation to introduce: One useful or interesting English website about power grid, e.g. /environmental/energy/power.htm. Your introduction should include the main contents of the web (with pictures) and what impresses you the most. The structure and development of power grid. Show how the power grid works. The innovation of power grid (eg. smart grid) Compile “English for power grid Glossary”. This may include words and phrases in an alphabetical order. The specific words and phrases should be translated into Chinese. Requirements and Rules 1. Draw lots to decide the order to make the presentation. 2. Each presentation should be within 10 minutes. 3. Post the PPT on the class ESP Forum before the presentation. 4. Take turns to be the speaker. 5. Ask some questions before ending your presentation to check comprehension.
