Burnsareacommontypeofinjurythatcancausedamagetotheskin,leadingtopain,swelling,andscarring.Woundhealingafteraburninjuryisacomplexprocessthatinvolvesseveralstages,includinginflammation,proliferation,andremodeling.Naturalcompoundssuchasepigallocatechingallate(EGCG)andepicatechingallate(ECG)havebeenshowntopossessanti-inflammatoryandantioxidantproperties,makingthempotentialcandidatesforwoundhealingapplications.
Objectives:
ThisstudyaimstoinvestigatetheeffectsofEGCGandECGonwoundhealinginmicewithburninjuries.Specifically,wewillassesstheimpactonwoundclosurerates,inflammation,andtissueregeneration.
Methodology:
Inthisstudy,wewilluseamousemodelofburninjurytocomparetheeffectsofEGCGandECGonskinwoundhealing.Micewillbedividedintothreegroups:acontrolgroupreceivingaplacebotreatment,agroupreceivingEGCGtreatment,andagroupreceivingECGtreatment.Thecompoundswillbeadministeredtopicallytotheburnwoundareas,twicedailyfortwoweeks.Woundclosurerateswillbemeasuredusingdigitalphotography,whilehistologicalanalysiswillassessthehealingprocessatacellularlevel.Finally,wewillassessinflammationlevelsbymeasuringcytokineexpressionandoxidativestressmarkersintheburntissue.
ExpectedResults:
WehypothesizethatEGCGandECGtreatmentswillacceleratethewoundhealingprocessbyreducinginflammationandactivatingtissueregenerationinmicewithburninjuries.Weexpecttoseefasterwoundclosureratesandadecreaseininflammatorycytokineexpressionandoxidativestressmarkersinthetreatmentgroupscomparedtotheplacebogroup.
