Realization of collaborative distance education platform based on
CSCW and FMS

Abstract: T his paper discusses the development of distance education as well as the problems
faced to. The solution based on CSCW theory and FMS technology for distance education is
introduced in this paper. Based on CSCW theory, this paper proposes the collaborative work
model based on virtual collaborative teaching platform. Based on the Multi Agent technology, the
systems architecture of this teaching platform is given. Based on FMS technology, the key
technology for building the platform is analyzed. Finally, the prototype system is implemented.
The results show that the prototype system meets the design objectives.
