Its object of study focuses on the phenomenon of social intelligence and information exchange. It is an integrated cross-disciplinary science between natural, technological and social science. 情报学是现代科学技术高度发展的产物，对现代社会的发展起着至关重要的作用，尤其是在企业管理与军事部门，其应用非常广泛。情报学自产生以来，大体经历了4个发展阶段：20世纪60年代，重点研究情报处理基本技术，提高传统情报工作效能；20世纪70年代，重点研究情报处理自动化，建立自动情报检索系统；20世纪80年代，重点开发联机情报系统和区域网络化；20世纪90年代，重点发展电子情报系统、信息咨询服务和全球网络化。目前在《财富》杂志中排名前500强的世界公司中，90%都设有竞争情报部门，在世界各强国中，没有此类部门的军队根本不存在。 As the result of highly developed science and technology, Information Science plays a vital role in social development, especially its wide application in business and military management. Information Science has undergone four stages in its development: in the 1960s, the focus was on basic technology of information processing, so as to improve the efficiency of traditional intelligence service; in the 1970s, the focus shifted to the automatic information processing and the establishment of an automatic information retrieval system; in the 1980s, the focus was on the development of online information system and regional networks; in the 1990s, the focus went to the development of electronic information system, information consulting service and global network.
