西安文理学院毕业论文 题目：On the Images of The Bible in the Tess of the DUrbervilles 德伯家的苔丝中的《圣经》意象 院 （系）： 外国语学院 专 业: 英 语 学生姓名： 学 号： 指导教师： 职 称： 副 教 授 2013年4月 Abstract Thomas Hardy(1840—1928)is an outstanding English writer who possesses a very important position in the history of English literature．Of the 14 novels he has written，Tess of the dUrbervilles(Tess，hereinafter)is one of his greatest .Today, more than 100 years after it was first published，its moving plot and unique artistic charm still attract many readers’attention and argument．There have been a lot of researches on this novel．But the former researches mainly focus on the analysis of characters， the moral significance and the author’s viewpoint．etc．．The us e of Biblical images are not given enough attention to．This thesis，therefore，attempts to analyze these Biblical images so as to throw more light on the novel． To interpret the works of Thomas Hardy through Biblical images is a brand—new angle，seldom employed by traditional researches．One of the reasons why Tess is considered Hardy’s greatest，most artistically charming novel lies in its use of images．The employment of these images，on the whole，strengthens the tragic sense of the story· By analyzing the images in this novel the author of this thesis intends to interpret in a new perspective the deep and profound meaning of the novel，and at the same time hopes to bring out greater attention from both critics and readers to this topic.
