Abstract: The field expermi ents w ere conducted to investigate the effects of different nitrogen( N) fertilizer rates
and the ratio of basalN and topdressingN onw interw heat growth, grain yield and the change of soilN content in
Hengshu i and X inj,i Hebei province, respectively. The resu lts show that indigenous N supp ly could meet the
demand ofN forw interw heat normal grow th before the revival stage, and the applied N fertilizerdo not sign ificantly
increase wheat grain yield inH engshui site, w hile comparedw ith the treatm ents of applying basalN and topdressing
N, the app lications of topdressingN only at shooting and booting stages at the ratio of21 increaseN use efficiency
significantly. InX inji site, N 60 kg /ha cou ld meet the demand ofN forwheat grow th before the shooting stage, all
N are applied as topdressing at the shooting stage do not elmi inate the effect ofN deficient at the early growth stage
on wheat grow th and h igh grain yield, and the app lication of N 240 kg/ha at the r
