Abstract
TheuseofTechnologytofacilitatebetterlearningand
trainingisgainingmomentumworldwide,reducingthe
temporalandspatialproblemsassociatedwithtraditional
learning.Despiteitsseveralbenefits,retainingstudentsin
onlineplatformsischallenging.Throughaliteraturereviewof
thefactorsaffectingadoption,thecontinuationoftechnology
use,andlearningoutcomes,thispaperdiscussesanintegration
ofonlinelearningwithvirtualcommunitiestofosterstudent
engagementforobtainingbetterlearningoutcomes.Future
directionshavebeendiscussed,thefeedbackmechanismwhich
isanantecedentofstudents’continuationintentionhasalot
ofscopestobestudiedinthevirtualcommunitycontext.The
useofAppsinm-learningandtheuseofcloudservicescan
boosttheeaseandaccessofonlinelearningtousersand
organizations.

Introduction
Onlinelearningandtrainingaregainingpopularity
worldwide,reducingthetemporalandspatialproblems
associatedwiththetraditionalformofeducation.Theprimary
factorsbehindusingonlinelearningarenotonlytoimprove
accesstoeducationandtraining,andqualityoflearning,but
alsotoreducethecostandimprovethecost-effectivenessof
education(Bates,1997).Onlinelearningismainlyprovidedin
twoways—insynchronousandasynchronousenvironments
(Jolliffe,Ritter,Stevens,2012).Thetimelagattributesof
asynchronouslearningunlikesynchronouslearninginonline
platformstaketheadvantageofaccessingmaterialsanytime
andanywhere,abilitytoreachagreatermassatthesametime,
andu
