Atfirst,Liualmostgaveupbecauseofdifficulties.Shethenthoughtaboutherneighborandthepainonherfacewhenshecouldnotmakepeopleunderstandwhatshewastryingtosay.ThatmadeLiusticktoherdreamofbeinga“specialeducation”teacherandshesucceeded.
Althoughshewasonly18atthattime,sheregardedthestudentsasherchildren.Everyday,shespentmuchtimeteachingthemtospeak.Oneofherstudents,JiangYan,saidLiuwouldshowover100timeshowtospeakjustoneword.Shealsotaughtthestudentshowtowashtheirfaceandclothes,andcliptheirnails(剪指甲).
LiuLingliputlotsofeffortstohelpthemlivebetter,too.Withherhelpandencouragement,anotherstudentLiuHanxiangcouldcommunicatenormallywithothers.LiuHanxianglearneddancingandisamemberofanartgroupnow.
