disengagetheclutch.

Beforeworkingonavehicleplacethetransmissioninneutral,settheparkingbrakesandblockthewheels.

Beforetowingthevehicleplacethetransmissioninneutral,andlifttherearwheelsofftheground,removetheaxleshafts,

ordisconnectthedrivelinetoavoiddamagetothetransmissionduringtowing.
