witharegulated5Vreference–voltageandthesensorreturnsasignalvoltagebetween0.5Vand4.5V

accordingtothepressurelevelinthefueltank.

Whenthepressureinthefueltankislow,theoutputvoltageofthevaporpressuresensorislow.Whenit

ishigh,theoutputvoltageishigh.

ForthisDTCP0451,theECMchecksfora”noisy”sensorora”stuck”sensor.

TheECMchecksforthe”noisy”sensorbymonitoringthefueltankpressureswhenthevehicleisstationary

andthereshouldbelittlevariationinthetankpressure.Iftheindicatedpressurevariesbeyondspecified

limits,theECMwillilluminatetheMILandaDTCisset.

TheECMchecksforthe”stuck”sensorbymonitoringthefueltankpressureforanextendedtimeperiod.

Iftheindicatedpressuredoesnotchangeoverthisperiod,theECMwillconcludethatthefueltankpressure

sensorismalfunctioning.TheECMwillilluminatetheMILandaDTCisset.
