experiences.

Manycountriesdependheavilyupontravelexpendituresbyforeignersasasourceoftaxation

andasasourceofincomefortheenterprisesthatsell(export)servicestothesetravelers.

ConsequentlythedevelopmentoftourismisoftenastrategyemployedeitherbyaNon-

governmentalorganization(NGO)oragovernmentalagencytopromoteaparticularregionforthe

purposeofincreasingcommercethroughexportinggoodsandservicestonon-locals.

SometimesTourismandTravelareusedinterchangeably.Inthiscontexttravelhasasimilar

definitiontotourism,butimpliesamorepurposefuljourney.

Thetermtourismissometimesusedpejoratively,implyingashallowinterestinthesocieties

andplacesthatthetouristvisits.
