I have read the book named Gone with the Wind This semester,Through the whole story, I was attracted by the book from the beginning to the end.
Gone with the Wind is a American novel written by Margaret Mitchell sets in the Old South during the American Civil War and Reconstruction in 1936. The novel won the Pulitzer Prize in 1937and was adapted into an Academy Award-winning film of the same name in 1939. There is also a new musical stage adaptation in Londons West End titled Gone With The Wind in 2008 . It is the only novel written by Mitchell published during her lifetime, and it took her ten years to write it. The novel is one of the most popular books of all time, sold more than 30 million copies. Over the years, the novel has also been analyzed for its symbolism and treatment of mythological archetypes.
Scarlett was the daughter of a planter Gerald in Tara South America. She was not very beautiful, but very charm, vigorous and had a high-spirit. She loved Ashley Wilkes to distraction. She was heart-broken by the news that Ashley would engage with his cousin Melanie Wilkes, then she decided in hastily to merry Melanie抯 brother Charles as Ashley抯 sister India who was in love with Charles. Several months after their marriages, the Revolutionary War broken out and Charles and Ashley both registered as a cavalry for South. And Scarlett and Melanie lived in Atlanta with Melanie抯 aunt Pitty.
