In this paper, the basic principle and function of reactive power compensation are analyzed, and the configuration of reactive power compensation capacity of low voltage power grid and asynchronous motor is discussed. It is an important measure to improve the power factor of low-voltage power grid and electric equipment by using reactive compensation technology. Keywords: power factor reactive power compensation technology 1 introduction Reactive power compensation is refers to the additional reactive power compensation device were used, let the reactive load and reactive compensation devices of reactive power between exchange and no longer is the exchange of reactive power and power supply, in order to improve the power factor of system, reducing energy consumption, thereby significantly reducing the power supply line, improve the quality of power grid voltage. Therefore, reactive power compensation device is a very important position in power supply system. Reasonable selection compensation device can minimize network loss and improve the quality of power grid. Conversely, if choose or use improper, can cause power supply system, voltage fluctuation, harmonic increase and so on many factors. It can be seen from the basic state of reactive power consumption of power grid that the network and power transmission and distribution equipment at all levels must consume a certain amount of reactive power, especially the low voltage distribution network.
