英语短文 一 One day a visitor from the city came to a small rural area to drive around the country roads, see how the farms looked, and perhaps to see how farmers earned their living. The city man saw a farmer in his yard, holding a pig up in his hands, and lifting it so that the pig could eat apples from an apple tree. Come with me to my master, and you shall share my work. So the wolf and the dog went to the town together. On the way the wolf saw that there was no hair around the dogs neck. He felt quite surprised, and asked him why it was like that? Oh, it is nothing, said the dog. Every night my master puts a collar around my neck and chains me up. You will soon get used to it. Is that the only reason? said the wolf. Then good-bye to you, my friend. I would rather be free. 三 A man was going to the house of some rich person. As he went along the road, he saw a box of good apples at the side of the road. He said, I do not want to eat those apples; for the rich man will give me much food; he will give me very nice food to eat. Then he took the apples and threw them away into the dust. He went on and came to a river. The river had become very big; so he could not go over it. He waited for some time; then he said, I cannot go to the rich mans house today, for I cannot get over the river. He began to go home. He had eaten no food that day. He began to want food.
