Optimization of Machining Parameters Based on Milling Uniformity

Abstract: The engagement beha ior between toolworkpiece during chip formation in high speed milling process was ana
lyzed. A milling uniformity model was presented by terms of axial depthofcut and radial depthofcut. Based on the milling uni
formity model, the optimal model of machining parameters was built, where the constraint was the constant metal remo al rate, and
the optimized target was the milling uniformity coefficient. The milling uniformity and optimal model was alidated by means of
highspeed milling experiments. For highspeed milling of aeronautical aluminum alloy 7050- T7451, it is ad antageous to impro e
milling uniformity and decrease cutting force by using bigger axial depth of cut and smaller radial depth of cut.
