Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou 310027, China) Abstract: An electrodialyzer with two-path spacer configuration was used to separate oily wastewater with high salinity for recycling utilization. The effects of concentration difference between the electrodialytic cells, concentration ratio of concentrate to product and oil adsorption of the membrane surface on desalination process including relative membrane fouling abatement were studied in detail. Then, the effective ways to improve current efficiency of electrodialysis and cost estimates compared with other wastewater treating process were further investigated. Finally, the desalted oily wastewater with different conductivity between 540 to 17500 S⋅cm−1 was used to produce rhamnolipids by Pseudomonas aeruginosa . After five days cultivation in 500mL shaking flasks, it was found that the yield of rhamnolipid production in broth of desalted oily wastewater with conductivity below 5000 µS·cm-1 could reach 0
