1.SCOPE

Thematerialsdefinedbythesespecificationsarecorrosionprotectivecoatingsoversteel.Theyconsistofan

electrolyticormechanicalzincplate,ahexavalentchromiumfreeconversioncoating,andanintegrallylubricated

aluminum-richtopcoat.Thiscoatingsystemprovidesenhancedcorrosionprotection,colorand/orconsistent

torque-tensioncontrol.

Theyarefreeofhexavalentchromium,nickel,leadandcadmium.

2.APPLICATION

Thesespecificationswerereleasedoriginallyformaterialsusedforcorrosionprotectivecoatingsoversteel.Theyare

suitableforexternallyandinternallythreadedfastenersandnon-threadedpartswhereahighlevelofcorrosionis

required.Thecuretemperatureforthealuminumrichtopcoatis200to220°C.

Thesecoatingsshallnotbespecifiedifthistemperatureadverselyaffectsthecomponentbeingcoated.These

coatingsprovidegoodbi-metalliccorrosionresistancewhenincontactwithaluminum.Theyshouldnotbeappliedto

partsincontactwithuncoatedcopper,magnesiumorstainlesssteelsurfaces.

2.1SERVICETEMPERATURE

ThemaximumcontinuousservicetemperatureresistanceofA1andA2is260°C.
