Abstract: Background: Cyanidation process is used for gold recovery in Aghdarreh gold plant. Some
of the most effective parameters on cyanidation process are concentration of cyanide, solid weight
percent, pH, particle size, dissolved oxygen, retention time and agitation speed. The present research
work is based on finding the suboptimum conditions for the effect of these parameters on gold
recovery in Aghdarreh ore is investigated using the Tagouchi method. The Taguchi method was used
to design and minimize of experiments. Results: According to these results, reduction of retention
time from 25 to 15 hours does not have any effect on gold recovery so increasing of Aghdarreh gold
plant capacity to 160 t/h doesnt change the gold recovery. By using Taguchi orthogonal (L18) array,
five parameters (cyanide concentration, solid weight percent, pH , particle size, retention time) five
parameters were selected for experiments. Thereupon The suboptimal condition for gold recovery
equal to 700g/t sodium cyanide concentration, pH = 10, solid percent in pulp = 46 and particle size =
45 micron. At this condition, gold recovery was 90.71±1.12 %. Conclusions: The suboptimal of
cyanidation process indicated that concentration of cyanide, solid weight percent, particle size,
retention time are the effective parameters an
