Abstract:Aromaticcarboxylicacidcomplexeshaveattractedattentionbecauseoftheirpotentialapplicationsincatalysis,materialscienceandmedicinalchemistry.Inthisreport,wedescribethesynthesis,characterizationandpropertiesofaseriesofnewaromaticcarboxylicacidcomplexescontainingvariousligands.Thesynthesiswascarriedoutbyreactingthecorrespondingligandswithmetalsaltsunderappropriateconditions.ThenewcomplexeswerecharacterizedbyvariousspectroscopictechniquessuchasIR,UV-Vis,NMRandelementalanalysis.ThecrystalstructuresofsomeofthecomplexesweredeterminedbyX-raydiffraction.Thepropertiesofthecomplexeswereevaluatedbythermalanalysis,solubilitytest,andcatalyticactivitytest.Thepreliminaryresultsindicatethatthesynthesizedcomplexeshavepromisingpropertiesforvariousapplicationsandfurtherinvestigationsareongoing.
Introduction:Aromaticcarboxylicacidsareversatilebuildingblocksinorganicandcoordinationchemistry.Duetothepresenceofelectron-withdrawingcarboxylicgroupsandelectron-donatingaromaticrings,theseligandscanexhibitdifferentcoordinationmodesandformstablecomplexeswithvariousmetalions.Thepropertiesofthesecomplexescanbetunedbyvaryingtheligandstructures,metalionsandreactionconditions.Inthisproject,weaimtosynthesizeaseriesofnovelaromaticcarboxylicacidcomplexes,characterizetheirstructuresandproperties,andexploretheirpotentialapplicationsindifferentfields.
Synthesis:Theligandsusedinthisprojectinclude2-hydroxybenzoicacid(salicylicacid),2-aminobenzoicacid(anthranilicacid),3-aminobenzoicacid(m-aminobenzoicacid),and4-aminobenzoicacid(p-aminobenzoicacid).Theseligandswerechosenduetotheirdiversepropertiesandcoordinationmodesincomplexformation.ThemetalsaltsusedwereFeCl3,CoCl2,NiCl2,CuCl2,ZnCl2andCdCl2.Thesynthesiswascarriedoutby
