George Gordon, Lord Byron (1778-1824) Life Story Major Literary Works Features of Byron’s Poetry Byron’s Position in English Literature Byronic Hero Life Story Born on 22 Jan. 1788 in London with a clubfoot; Inherited the title and estates of his great-uncle at 10; Attended Harrow in 1801; Took his seat in the House of Lords in Jan. 1809 and began his grand tour in the same year; Made his first speech in the House of Lords on 27 Feb. 1812; Married Anne Isabella Milbanke on 2 Jan. 1815 and then had a daughter called Augusta Ada; Divorced his wife in 1816 and left England forever; Met Countess Teresa Guicciolo in 1819; Accepted the offer of aiding the Greek war for independence from the Turkey in April 1823; Fell ill on 15 Feb. 1824 and passed away on 19 April 1824.
