On Association Memory Strategies in English Vocabulary Learning in Senior High School
I. Introduction
Language is the most important communicative tool of all human beings. But the role of vocabulary learning cannot be looked down upon in the whole process of English learning. Students’ abilities in listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation will be curbed by the lack of a good command of vocabulary. In the process of English leaning, the main problem lies in words’ memorization. New senior high school English course require student to master about 5000 words. Increasing students’ vocabulary size is one of the most direct and effective ways to improve their other techniques. The increased vocabulary size will help improve students’ reading speed, help them gain more confidence in listening and speaking and so on. Therefore, effective accumulation of words becomes very important in English learning.
