Fukushima accident  New requirements have been emerged on the performance of fuel to provide a more extended safety margin.  One of the research efforts to enhance the accident-tolerance of nuclear fuels relies on the improvement in the oxidation resistance of claddings with the reduction of hydrogen emission.
